Crispy beef and broccoli is full of flavor and is the perfect weeknight dinner that takes less than 20 minutes and keeps the kitchen clean with just a few quick items to put in the dishwasher. This recipe is for an Air-Fryer, however, I also include stove-top instructions.
Crispy shaved rib-eye steak tossed in a sweet-heat sauce and topped with sesame seeds, served with perfectly cooked broccoli over rice.
How to Make it Crispy
You should be able to find shaved steak at the grocery store near the beef section. It’s thin shaved slices of rib-eye steak.
To make it crispy, the shave beef slices will need to be tossed in flour until coated and sprayed with avocado oil so that it will get crispy in the air-fryer.
If you want to cook on the stove, add about 1 TBSP of vegetable oil to the bottom of the pan and let it warm up until it starts to shimmer, then add the flour-coated shaved beef. Continue to toss while it cooks so that the pieces do not stick together.

How to Make Rice
You can serve this on the side of any rice you love.
- Long Grain White Rice/Jasmine Rice: Light and fluffy, plump and soft. The “normal” rice when you think of white rice or rice pilaf.
- Short Grain Rice: Otherwise known as, sticky white rice which is another favorite in our house. This is our favorite to pop in the microwave (amazon affiliate link).
- Brown Rice: Brown rice does not go through the same process as white rice so it retains some of its natural nutrients and fiber. It shares the same characteristics of the long grain/jasmine rice mentioned above but will have more of a bite.
- Quinoa: quinoa is not a rice but it is a grain. If you want to make this more of an Asian inspired healthy bowl, swap out the rice for your favorite quinoa.
Instant Pot Rice:
This is favorite. Add 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of water, with 1 TBSP of butter and a pinch of salt. Make sure the lid is on and the vent is closed. Pressure cook for 5 minutes and once it’s done, let the vent naturally release. Fork fluff. It’s perfect every time.
To cook rice on the stove:
1 cup of long-grain white rice: 1 1/2 cups of water. Rinse the rice, under cold running water, rinse the rice until the water runs clear.
Add the rice and water into a pot (make sure the pot has a well-fitted lid). Bring the water up to a boil, add the lid. Turn the heat down to a low simmer for 15-17 minutes, until the water is gone and the rice to cooked through. Do no take the lid off during the simmering. Fork fluff.
Stove-Top Instructions
Toss the shaved beef with flour until coated. In a pan, over medium heat, add about 1 TBSP of vegetable oil and let it warm up until it starts to shimmer, then add the flour-coated shaved beef. Continue to toss while it cooks so that the pieces do not stick together.
Once the steak browns, add the broccoli florets and let them start to cook, about 5 minutes. As the steak and broccoli cook, make the sauce.
When the shaved steak is crispy and the broccoli is cooked to the preferred tenderness, turn the pan down to a low heat and toss the shaved beef in with the sauce. At this point, everything should be done cooking. Serve with rice.
